to the late Palmer Lazarus.

This Willy's was built by the late Fred J. Smith of Elgin, IL.
who sold it to Palmer Lazarus pictured in the early 1960's

Palmer Lazarus was at the 1st Race that Ron Leek promoted. The race, at Oswego Dragway, involved a 2 out of 3 match race between Palmer Lazarus of Chicago and Mike Marinoff of Milwaukee, WI. Palmer was a personal “Friend Forever” with Ron Leek since the 1950’s. Palmer was married to his wife for 63 years and was a fighter pilot in World War II. Palmer was also affectionately known as “king of the hot dog stands.”
